About Our Nursery
Children may join our Nursery Class from the age of 3. Parents are able to make use of the 15 hours of universal funded provision that all children are entitled to in the term after their third birthday. Children may attend on a part-time or full-time basis.
Parents/carers are not charged any administrative fees by the school to access their child's funded hours.
Our Nursery Sessions
Our sessions run Monday to Friday, term-time only, as follows:
Morning session: 8.40am-11.40am
(Lunch 11.45am-12.45pm)
Afternoon session: 11.45pm-2.45pm
Each session that is privately paid for (i.e. outside of funded hours) will be charged at the rate of £16.62 (amounting to £33.24 for a whole day) via our online app, ParentMail. We only allow parents/carers to pay 'hourly' if their child stays for an extra hour (following the morning session) for the lunchtime period and this is charged at £5.54 per day.
Lunches & Snacks
Children may bring in their own healthy snack or receive a piece of fruit from the school which is free of charge.
If a child will be present for the lunchtime period (which makes up the first hour of the afternoon session) they may bring a packed lunch with them or order a school dinner. School dinners are charged daily at £2.61 via ParentMail. Parents/carers are asked to ensure their accounts are in credit prior to their child taking a school meal.
Non-Consumables
Our Nursery holds a very limited supply of certain items that may be required in an emergency and there is no charge for this. However, we would ask that parents/carers send children in with a supply of nappies, wipes, spare clothes and other items that their child may require as necessary.
Extra Activities
Our school has its own outdoor swimming pool and through the warmer months our swimming teacher gives weekly lessons to all of our children, including Nursery. If your child attends on a 'swimming day' and would like to take part we charge parents/carers £30 for the term (this amount is subject to change).
Throughout the year Nursery are often offered the chance to take part in school trips or workshops that take place within school. There is usually a small fee if you want your child to take part.
Please note that attending our Nursery does not give children an automatic space within our Reception class when they reach compulsory school age. Parents will have to apply for a space in the usual way, via Essex County Council’s website, when it is time to do so.
Nursery Admissions
All Nursery places are allocated in accordance with the school’s Admissions Policy.
The headteacher very much encourages parents to get in touch so that a tour of the Nursery can be arranged and so that we get an opportunity to meet with you and your child.
In the first instance, parents will be asked to complete a short application form so that your child can be added to our waiting list. Parents will then be contacted during the term before your child’s expected start date at which point the school will confirm if a place is available.
If you decide to accept the space for your child you will be asked to complete and return a full application pack and provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate and passport (if they have one) as well as evidence of your address (such as a recent council tax bill) and, where applicable, a certificate of Baptism.
If your child is offered a place we will discuss and confirm a start date with you. If you think that your child will need some time to settle in then a reduced timetable can be arranged until they are comfortable. Where possible we will attempt to invite you and your child to a stay-and-play session prior to their start date.
