About Our Nursery

Children may join our Nursery Class from the age of 3.

Parents are able to make use of the 15 hours of funded provision that all children are entitled to in the term after their 3rd birthday or the 30 hour working parent entitlement for 3-4 year olds (if entitled).

Our 15 hour provision can be taken either in the morning (AM sessions) or afternoon (PM sessions).

Parents/carers are not charged any administrative fees by the school to access their child's funded hours.

Our Nursery Sessions

Our sessions run Monday to Friday, term-time only, as follows:

AM session: 8.45am - 11.45am

(Lunch 11.45am - 12.15pm)
PM session: 12.15pm-3.15pm

If your child attends AM sessions you may pay for them to stay an extra 30 mins for lunch and collect them slightly later.

If your child attends the PM sessions you may pay to start earlier and join us for lunch before the session begins.

The 30 hour provision means your child can stay for a full day which incorporates their 15 hour universal funded hours (taken as AM sessions) and lunchtime plus their extra 15 hours extended entitlement (taken as PM sessions). You may collect your child at the end of the PM session or you may pay for them to stay for an extra 30 minutes a day, meaning they finish the day at with the rest of the school.

If you require a 30 hour provision but are not entitled to the extended entitlement government funded hours you can pay for additional hours.

Each session that is privately paid for will be charged at £19.50 per 3 hourly block via our online app, My Child at School (MCAS). The optional paid lunch session is charged at £3.25.

Lunches & Snacks

Children may bring in their own healthy snack or receive a piece of fruit from the school which is free of charge.

If a child will be present for the lunchtime period they may bring a packed lunch with them or order a school dinner. School dinners are charged daily at £2.60. Parents/carers are asked to ensure their accounts are in credit prior to their child taking a school meal. Please be aware that we are strictly a NO NUT SCHOOL.

Non-Consumables

Our Nursery holds a very limited supply of certain items that may be required in an emergency and there is no charge for this. However, we would ask that parents/carers send children in with a supply of nappies, wipes, spare clothes and other items that their child may require as necessary.

Extra Activities

We are very priveliged to have our own swimming pool on the school grounds and all children are taught swimming during the summer (and sometimes Autumn) months. If your child attends Nursery at the same time that the Early Years' lesson occurs your child will be invited to take part. Swimming lessons can be paid for via our MCAS app.

Throughout the year Nursery are often offered the chance to take part in school trips or workshops that take place within school. There is usually a small fee if you want your child to take part.

Please note that attending our Nursery does not give children an automatic space within our Reception class when they reach compulsory school age. Parents will have to apply for a space in the usual way, via Essex County Council’s website, when it is time to do so.

Nursery Admissions

All Nursery places are allocated in accordance with the school’s Admissions Policy.

The headteacher very much encourages parents to get in touch so that a tour of the Nursery can be arranged and so that we get an opportunity to meet with you and your child.

In the first instance, parents will be asked to complete a short application form so that your child can be added to our waiting list. Parents will then be contacted during the term before your child’s expected start date at which point the school will confirm if a place is available.

If you decide to accept the space for your child you will be asked to complete and return a full application pack and provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate and passport (if they have one) as well as evidence of your address (such as a recent council tax bill) and, where applicable, a certificate of Baptism.

If your child is offered a place we will discuss and confirm a start date with you. If you think that your child will need some time to settle in then a reduced timetable can be arranged until they are comfortable. Where possible we will attempt to invite you and your child to a stay-and-play session prior to their start date.
